SOTA Courses

We offer a wide variety of instrumental, vocal, dramatic and artistic instruction in both private and group settings. Whether beginner, intermediate or advanced, we provide instruction for students of all ages who seek to develop their giftedness. In addition, students will be taught to understand the value of their art as it relates to worship.
 
Following is a general list of courses offered.  All courses listed are not offered every semester.  For semester listings, please refer to the current registration form.  For tuition information, please refer to the registration information.
 
Private Instrumental Instruction - Learn to develop and improve playing techniques. Students must be able to practice the instrument at home. 30-minute lessons. (ages 6-Adult)  (For semester listings, please refer to the current registration form.)
 
Private Vocal Instruction - Learn to develop and improve vocal techniques. 30-minute lessons. (ages 12-Adult)  (For semester listings, please refer to the current registration form.)

Private Art Instruction - Learn to use art in various techniques and applications - drawing, pen and ink, water colors, acrylics, oils. 1-hour lessons. (ages 6-Adult) (For semester listings, please refer to the current registration form.)
 
Private Songwriting/Theory Instruction - Learn to apply music theory to your sketched song ideas.  30-minute lessons. (minimum 2 years experience in piano or guitar)  For more information or questions regarding this course, please contact Ben Gazaway.
 
Violin Ensemble - Per discussion with their instructor, current SOTA private violin students are invited to participate in this instrumental group that meets weekly.   CLASSES CURRENTLY OFFERED THURSDAY 2PM-3PM.
 
Harmony Community Children's Chorus - A community children's chorus for kids in 1st-5th grades.  Children will have opportunities to sing in various venues throughout the community, church and in the greater Dallas area.  (Ages 1st-5th grade)  Rehearsals take place during the school year on Mondays 5:30-6:30 in the Music Suite at FBC McKinney.  Annual tuition is $55.
 
Art Classes - Learn to use art in various techniques and applications - drawing, pen and ink, water colors, acrylics, oils.  (Ages 6-adult)  Class times vary.  90-minute classes.  Please contact Schelly Corry for class times and additional information.  NO CLASSES CURRENTLY OFFERED 
 
Dance Classes - In addition to the technical aspects of dance, students will learn to praise God through their dancing.  Classes use different styles of music, but all with a Biblical base.  (Ages 5-adult)   NO CLASSES CURRENTLY OFFERED 
 
Dramatic Arts - Learn self confidence and stage presence through improvisation, creative characterization games and skit/production performances.  Class content varies by semester.  NO CLASSES CURRENTLY OFFERED.
  
Sign Language Classes-  Learn the basics of American Sign Language to participate in worship and communicate with the deaf community.  8 student minimum - 15 student max.  Contact Jennifer Maclin for additional information. 6-WEEK CLASS Thursdays, May 14-June 18, 6pm-7pm

Photography Classes- Class photography offers an opportunity for the casual enthusiast to explore the art of photography and capture the beauty of the world around us. Learn the various technical aspects of photography as well as the many technological advances such as digital photography, editing and printing. (ages 8-Adult)  NO CLASSES CURRENTLY OFFERED.
